With six marathons under her belt, Krista will quit when it stops being fun. She grew up running, but didn’t put the pedal to the metal until 2005, when she finished the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon, her first. She’s been chasing the sub-4-hour marathon dream ever since. Is running her passion? Maybe. But passion’s a big word for what’s a simple pleasure. Krista logged a thousand miles in 2009, and will keep plugging away at the miles in the year ahead. She’s a Twitter-fiend, blogger, self-proclaimed cat lady and watches entirely too many shows on The CW. She’s called Wisconsin home her entire life, but Madison’s been it for the last year. She plans to stay. You’re most likely to find her running along Lake Monona. But be careful if it’s dark outside. She carries pepper spray.
Having dealt with weight issues her whole life, Jen decided to make a change. In May of 2007, she got off her butt and in October 2007 she completed her first 5k and found a love of running. She continued running, lost 75 pounds, and in September of 2008, she finished the Quad Cities Marathon, her first. In 2009 she went on to run 2 more marathons and is looking forward to many more! Jen loves to read and write about nutrition and running and is addicted to Peanut M&Ms, Grey’s Anatomy and traveling. Originally from Wisconsin, she moved back in 2005 after a brief stint in Los Angeles. Winters are still growing on her, please pass along hot chocolate and Snuggies.
This photo is what Shayla might refer to as “the glory days.” A former varsity rower for the University of Wisconsin and a life-long runner, Shayla comes to you with a wealth and variety of athletic experiences. A three-sport athlete through high school, she came to college looking to get involved and when the head rowing coach said, “this will be the hardest thing you’ll ever do,” she immediately made up her mind to prove said coach wrong. Four years later, the coach was right (but don’t tell her that). Shayla adds that it was also the most rewarding thing she has ever done. Since finishing her undergraduate career and rowing, Shayla has taken up running again-to stay fit, to stay sane, and to stay a little competitive. With two half marathons under her belt, she is searching a mileage goal for 2010 as well as the opportunity to train for a few more half marathons, as well as working to run some speedy 10ks. Fun, shorter 5k races will also be in the works. When not running all over Madison, you can find Shayla enjoying good food, good drinks, good music, and good people
